First thing I noticed was his stepping in the proverbial bucket! He does a great job of loading - keeping his hands and bat back as he strides forward. In his swing above, Ethan exhibited some significant bat drag - leading his swing with his back elbow.
Since then we've done a number of drills that have helped his swing. Aside from the drills, I think the thing he's responded to best is the verbal cue, "keep your elbow behind you as you swing":
Ethan will typically exhibit bat drag anytime he's encouraged to swing hard, and when and if he chases a low pitch. We're working hard to correct this and its already paying dividends...he went 3 for 3 with a triple in his last game!!
Notice his elbow stays behind him and he gets in a great position for impact:


Getting to this position is one thing on a tee, doing it in a game is a bit more difficult! But we'll get there! Way to go Ethan!
